Work Plan 2024: Asian Mega Delta (AMD) project, Cambodia

On January 22, 2024, the Asian Mega Delta (AMD) project team met at the Royal University of Phnom Penh to discuss the 2024 work plan. The participants were from the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the World Fish Center, and the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR). They gathered to develop an activity plan for 2024 pertaining to the provision of digital climate advisory services and complementary services to Cambodia’s agricultural sector.

The implementation of local technical agro-climatic committees (LTAC) will continue in Prey Veng and Takeo provinces, while the project can possibly expand the provision of climate services in the fisheries sector in collaboration with the fisheries administration and the WorldFish Center.

The Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) will conduct a qualitative study, interviewing many stakeholders, to better understand how to improve climate services for agriculture in Cambodia. The RUPP, WorldFish Centre, IIRR, and fisheries administration will collaborate to collect data for monitoring and evaluation of the AMD project.

The project team will collaborate with partners to identify potentials to develop digital climate advisory services alongside the private sector’s digital apps. The concept is planned to be designed in 2024, with private sector implementation beginning in phase 2 of the Asian Mega Delta project, which will begin in 2025 and last for a few years.

The project will develop DCAS+ knowledge products and promotion materials in 2024 and share them with the public and private sectors in order to gain understanding and increase the effectiveness of climate advisory services in Cambodia.
