Field visit to Lvea Krang Commune of Varin district‚ Siem Reap.

Mr. Yim Soksophors Conducted a field visit to Lvea Krang Commune on 14 Dec 2013 , the purpose was to assist in collecting data for 3D watershed modeling. Different Land Uses were visited such as rice fields, Cassava farms, natural lakes/ponds, mountains‚ forest‚ irrigation structures‚ etc.
Yim Sok Sophors together with international consultant, MOE staff‚ intern‚ community member collected data from different places as mentioned above

During the field visit‚ it was able to observed that:

Rice is being harvested – it seems that the yield is good.

Cassava: majority of the farmers in the village planted cassava for commercial purpose. Yield is about 10 tons per ha. The yield is more than ten tons in some places thanks to good soil fertility, proper planting practices and favorable climate condition.

Natural Forest: some areas of the natural forest areas are cleared for planting  cash crops, such as cassava, cashew, etc. Some dense forest still exist on the mountain. There are some wildlife, but the forest is very important to ensure that  wildlife will be sustainable in the future
