Field visit to Pyou Chruk Village, Kulen Chheung Commune, Kulen District, Preah Vihear Province to assist in data collection for 3D watershed modeling

I visited Pyou Chruk Village on 11 Dec 2013 to assist in data collection for 3D watershed modeling. During the visit, I learned that forest resource has reduced. Referring to a community member who guided me and consultant  to the forest, I knew that a Chinese company is clearing natural forest for cutting the value trees and taking the land for planting cassava or rubber. The community / local authority is not clear how much forest land will be cleared by the company meanwhile they are not informed. Some farmers have their rice fields inside that forest. So it means that they are losing their rice fields, and they will have no land for planting rice in the next seasons. Some villagers are disappointed when they see the company is clearing the forest, cutting big and value trees and their land / rice fields are losing to the company. They want to get back their land but they don’t know how to do it.
