End Project Workshop on “Increasing Dialogue for Empowerment and Action” in Kampong Cham Province

On Thursday, 27 December 2012, Mr. Yim Chan Sopheak, Farmer Community Facilitator (FCF), participated in a closing workshop on “Increasing Dialogue for Empowerment and Action” in Kampong Cham province.  There were around 400 participants including representatives of Community Based Organizations (CBOs), commune councils, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), government line departments, provincial authority, and National Committee for Democratic Development (NCDD).

The project, titled “Increasing Dialogue for Empowerment and Action” is being implemented by CRS, in 50 villages across 16 communes, in Thbaung Khmum and Krauch Chhmar Districts of Kampong Cham Province, in partnership with Srer Khmer and Women’s Media Center for Cambodia.  The project is funded by the United State Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, with the total amount of USD 482,000.  Program Director of CRS confirmed that the project duration is 27 months from October 2010 to December 2012.

The objective of project is to focus on increasing empowerment for private sector and addressing the need of Khmer Islam.  The project staff also facilitated to form CBOs in each village, these CBOs (with supporting USD 250 from the project) play important role in proposing small scale project in each village for agriculture training and other capacity building activities.  All CBOs in each commune also proposed small grant project for developing their commune with supporting fund USD 500 from the project.
