Field Mission for the Climate Change and Micro Watershed Project

From 13 to 18 June 2012, Mr. Yim Sok Sophors conducted a field mission to Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, and Siem Reap Provinces.  There were some development agencies implementing their development projects in these visited provinces such as Asian Development Bank (ADB), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), GIZ Green Belt Project in Siem Reap Province etc.

The objective of the mission was to identify the pilot sites. The selected pilot sites need to be closed watershed, existing natural water bodies which are linked to arable land, and mostly relevant to components of the project.

It is important to note that, before the field mission was conducted, the selection criteria were prepared among the national project formulation team in Phnom Penh. The criteria are useful for the national team to check and verify the real situation of the visited sites with the project’s criteria that already developed.

A few sites should be selected as the project pilot sites, such as the visited site in Kulen Chheung commune, Kulen district, Preah Vihear province, and another visited site in Varin District, Siem Reap Province. The project team will check further the watershed location and size to make sure that it is closed watershed and appropriate to be selected.
