As a partner representative from CEDAC, I (Yim Sok Sophors Program Coordinator) participated in the FK Meeting in S.D Avenue Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand from 23 to 25 April 2012. The purpose of the meeting was to reflect on the result of the South and South Exchange Program that had been conducted from 2011 to 2012. Mr. Van Saran and Mr. Hong Bunna who were the participant from CEDAC hosted in Thailand and Lao also participated in that event. Other partner representatives, old participants from 2012 and new participants for 2013 also participated in the meeting. In total, there were approximately 70 people in the meeting.

I personally observed that participants who attended the South and South Exchange Program are really making a very good progress in terms of improving their new knowledge and capacity, they have made much positive changes regarding their attitude & behavior. It is easy for me to pick up an example that Mr. Van Saran and Mr. Hong Bunna can now speak Thai and Lao Languages very well, English is also much improved so that it is really good for them to communicate and work successfully, they have gained more and more understanding about the agricultural innovations, agricultural extension systems, marketing activities, food processing and post management techniques, herbal medicinal plants etc. More importantly, they have learned new cultures& foods from the hosted countries.

I would like to let you know that we signed the contract for the third phase of the south and south exchange program during the meeting. CEDAC will send one participant Mrs. Mean Vannara to be hosted in Bhutan for 10 months. At the same time, CEDAC will also receive one participant from Earth Net Foundation (ENF)-Thailand. I feel that this exchange program is really good for all of us to exchange our knowledge and practical experience with other partners, we also can build up & strengthen our international networks with different countries.

Depositing abroad for ten months could be a long term for us, but it is great if we can complete the course successfully and did a very good contribution to share and learn new knowledge and experience with and from our partners. After ten months, we become a new person who are qualified to work in our field. We don’t know everything, but we are an expert if we compare with other people in home country who did not participate in the course. Even we come back home, but we still have our strong international network that we can continue sharing and strengthening the network.
