On 23 September 2010: With funding support from the European Union (EU), CEDAC organized the second Provincial Coordination Meeting, at the meeting hall of the Provincial Department of Agriculture of Mundulkiri Province[1]. 37 participants (8 women) who are the representatives of NGOs and government institutions, including representatives from Health Unlimited, Oxfam-Australia, ATSA, DPA, MVI, ICC, WWF, the Provincial Department of Women’s Affairs, the Provincial Department of Rural Development, the Provincial Department of Environment, the Provincial Department of Health, cooperating farmers, leaders of the village based farmer organizations, village chief, and district governors participated in the meeting. The purpose was to present the achievements of the project “Improving Food Security for Women and Rural Poor in Mundulkiri Province/IFWP-MP” as well as to ask for feedback and direction from the relevant NGOs and government line departments. H.E. Heng Samnang vice governor of Mundulkiri Province presided over and gave his opening speech for the meeting. After the opening speech, Mr. Pol Samath Project Officer of IFWP-MP conducted plenary presentation about the achievements of the project in the first year from October 2009 to September 2010.

Then, Mr. Yim Sok Sophors Project Coordinator of IFWP-MP presented the strategic plan to be implemented for the second year from October 2010 to September 2011. A part of the whole presentation, the Project Coordinator also presented about the process of establishing the Learning and Marketing Centers in each target district of IFWP-MP. Questions were raised by the participants after the presentation in order to seek for detail understanding and to make clarity.

Later on, a plenary discussion session on the cooperation among all relevant partner NGOs and other government line departments was conducted in order to select the members of the Provincial Coordination Committee. The roles and responsibilities of the Provincial Coordination Committee were determined in a participatory way at the time.

Last but not the least, Mr. Bou Savuth director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture gave his closing remarks. The meeting ended with happy environment, improved solidarity and cooperation among the multi-stakeholders especially there was a good support and cooperation from the government authorities and other partner NGOs in the province. Specifically, the district governors welcome the project to establish the Learning and Marketing Center in their respective districts. On the other hand, CEDAC will join with Health Unlimited Organization to submit a request letter to the Provincial Governor in order to ask for official recognition of the Provincial Coordination Committee.
